Don’t miss the one-time-only free Community Preview of the new David Rubenstein Atrium on Thursday, November 19! This is your chance for a sneak peek into the brand-new public facility, which is now here to offer you greater access to Lincoln Center and the surrounding community.
Thursday, November 19 Schedule of Events:
12:00 noon Doors open to the public
Visit the special Target Tent on 62nd Street between Broadway and Amsterdam, offering free food from Tom Colicchio’s ’wichcraft and information about Target Free Thursdays, and be sure to catch a 20-minute inside-and-outside performance by Asphalt Orchestra, a new marching band conceived by Bang on a Can and commissioned by Lincoln Center.
1:00pm Performance by the Juilliard Jazz Ensemble
(presented in collaboration with The Juilliard School)
4:00pm Performance by Kubiak-Pakhomov Duo
Pianist and recent BRIO (Bronx Recognizes Its Own) Award winner, pianist Maxim Pakhomov performs with BRIO winning cellist Teresa Kubiak. (presented in association with Bronx Council on the Arts)
8:30pm Performance by Sexteto Rodriguez Cuban-Jewish All Stars
Cuban roots dance music blends with Jewish Klezmer creating soulful and fiery grooves.
Target Free Thursdays provide free public performances, Thursday nights at 8:30, every Thursday of the year at the new David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center as part of Lincoln Center¹s mission to make the vast spectrum of the performing arts available to the broadest possible audience.
Curated by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc., Target® Free Thursdays performances will feature national and international touring artists as well as local artists from around the New York metropolitan area. The series will also feature artists from Lincoln Center’s resident organizations including The Juilliard School, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and The Chamber Music Society, among others, along with artists curated by community-based partners. Target Free Thursdays will represent a diverse cross-section of musical genres, including pop, Latin, rock, soul, country, spoken word, jazz, and world music, as well as classical and new music. Select performances will also feature live music for social dancing including swing, salsa, and tango.
