Park Avenue Armory presents an extraordinary four-day, indoor Carnival that’s fun for the entire family—a whimsical and theatrical event combining the classic and the contemporary, featuring breathtaking performances and authentic carnival rides and games. With a massive fifty-foot Ferris wheel as its centerpiece, the Wade Thompson Drill Hall is transformed into a fantastical Carnival featuring an array of performances and strolling stilt walkers from the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus. Amazing stage shows featuring magicians, jugglers, daredevils, and contortionists will take place in a specially-designed theater. The Carnival will also feature picnic areas, a range of traditional carnival concessions, and educational workshops in the circus arts—including balloon sculpture, juggling, and pantomime.

Following in the tradition of the Armory’s original 1879 Fair that raised funds for famed artists to decorate the interiors of its regimental rooms, the Carnival kicks-off the Armory’s first full season of artistic programming and the proceeds will support the mission to revitalize one of America’s historic treasures as a dynamic alternative arts space.
