Formed in 2005, the Charlie Porter Jazz Quartet has steadily forged a reputation on the jazz circuit in New York City and on the international stage. The quartet was selected by Jazz at Lincoln Center and the US Department of State to tour Southeast Asia as part of the 2010 Rhythm Road: American Music Abroad program and is part of Carnegie Hall’s Musical Connections program, which addresses the needs of people coping with challenging social and emotional circumstances by giving live musical performances in homeless shelters, correctional facilities, hospitals, and elderly care facilities.

Porter graduated from The Julliard School and was the first musician to win the National Trumpet Competition in both the jazz and classical divisions. As a composer, he has been commissioned by Chamber Music America and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
