11/6/10 Tonight: Change Your Clocks, Change Your Batteries. Get Free Batteries from FDNY This Weekend.

The clocks in the United States and Canada will turn back one hour when daylight saving time (DST) ends on Sunday, November 7, 2010. The clocks will shift back at 2am (02:00) local time to 1am (01:00) in most areas across the USA and Canada on this date.

FDNY Gives Away Smoke Alarm Batteries

The FDNY stresses the importance of being fire safe at home. Please remember to change the batteries in your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector when you change your clocks for Daylight Saving Time.

New York City Fire Department officials be distributing free batteries for smoke alarms in the following city sites this weekend:


Saturday, November 6

Manhattan
Union Square 14th Street and Broadway, 11 am–3 pm
350 West 125th Street, 12 pm–3 pm

Bronx

Fordham Plaza, 11 am–2 pm

Queens

81-18 Roosevelt Avenue, 10 am–1 pm

Staten Island

425 Bay Street, 11 am—2 pm

Sunday, November 7

Manhattan
Stuyvesant Town (14th Street and Avenue A), 10 am–2 pm

Brooklyn
Corner of Avenue M and Coney Island Avenue, 11 am–3 pm
Corner of Avenue M and East 15th Street, 11 am–3 pm
