April is National Poetry Month! Celebrate with a visit to Poets House or attend one of their special events. Poets House is a wonderfully serene place near the river and is perfect for reading or writing. And the kids room is open on Saturdays. Admission is always free.

Poem in Your Pocket Day

As part of National Poetry Month in April, Poets House will be taking part in Poem in Your Pocket Day on Thursday, April 14th. Volunteers and staff will be stationed at locations in downtown Manhattan, including the Port Authority Ferry Terminal at the World Financial Center (8:00am–10am), the World Financial Center courtyard (11:00am–2:00pm) and Poets House itself (throughout the day), distributing small cards with poems printed on them to passers-by, telling them about the day and hopefully enhancing their love of poetry.

The City of New York sponsors the annual Poem in Your Pocket Day, which was initiated in 2002 to encourage New Yorkers to embrace literacy and poetry. Come join the festivities, get a poem for your own pocket and help otherslove poetry the way you do!
