On Saturday April 28th, CITYarts will be finishing a restoration process on their Alice in Wall Street Land mural on Chambers Street, between West Street and Greenwich Street. 'Freej' (meaning 'neighborhood' in Emirati Arabic) is the smash hit 3D animated series from the United Arab Emirates. It is a hilarious take on modern life in Dubai through the wisdom and humor of four old national women tackling everyday problems. The series expanded into 'Freej Folklore' - a stage show combining a unique mix of live and virtual animation, film, light, and acrobatic performances across a 40 meter stage with multilayer screen projections. Jazz at Lincoln Center hosts its twelfth Listening Party of the season with the brothers-and-sister team of clarinetist Anat Cohen, trumpeter Avishai Cohen and saxophonist Yuval Cohen as they discuss the latest CD from their group 3 Cohens, Family (Anzic Records) with Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Ken Druker.

Family was recorded in Brooklyn and features the three Israeli horn players/siblings in league with a swinging New York rhythm section: pianist Aaron Goldberg, double-bassist Matt Penman and drummer Gregory Hutchinson. The sextet is joined by iconic vocalist Jon Hendricks. Family presents some top-notch originals, including Avishai's loving title feature for the group's characteristic three-horn interweave and two Charles Mingus-inflected numbers (Yuval's "Blues for Dandi's Orange Bull Chasing an Orange Sack" and Avishai's "With the Soul of the Greatest of Them All"). The disc also includes a winning take on Duke Ellington's "The Mooch," an international retooling of the New Orleans standard "Tiger Rag" and a freshly colored interpretation of "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans?" born of the group's great love for and experience with the music of Louis Armstrong. The sextet is joined by iconic vocalist Jon Hendricks for the vintage "On the Sunny Side of the Street" and "Roll 'em, Pete."

Families are invited to join us in celebrating the beginning of spring on the High Line.

Dance to tunes by the On the Lam Brass Band, make your mark on our 15-foot mural, and get dirty making wildflower seed balls to plant your own native garden at home.

High Line Gardeners will be on-hand to answer questions and talk to kids about growing plants in a garden elevated 30 feet above the streets of New York City.

The High Line Children’s Workyard Kit by Cas Holman will also be available for young builders to create one-of-a-kind vehicles, forts, creatures, structures, and machines from our kit of custom-designed wood planks, nuts, and bolts.

Fluxus artist Alison Knowles, in collaboration with Jessica Higgins and Joshua Selman, restages Make a Salad, an iconic event originally performed in 1962. The artist chops lettuce and other vegetables to the beat of live music, and then produces a giant salad by tossing the ingredients together in a grand gesture. The audience is invited to take part in the action by eating the finished salad.

Stop by to have a visual and audio experience of food preparation like you’ve never had before, with live music by Joshua Selman.

With the cost of a four-year college education ranging from $60,000 to $250,000, many students and their families would profit from a College Financial Aid Workshop. As costs escalate, many students are eligible for aid. Yet, according to the latest government statistics, millions of eligible students do not even apply for financial aid.

This workshop will enable students and parents to find out how to get their share of the hundreds of billions of dollars in grants and loans that are available. Taught by a career financial aid counselor who can illustrate correct and accurate methods for completing financial aid forms, this seminar will provide up-to-the-minute guidance. In one session, find out:
* Which programs the student could qualify for
* How much he or she might receive
* And how to go about getting that money

Step by step strategies for filling out the Free Application for Financial Aid and Profile forms, as well as strategies for marshaling their resources, for planning a needs analysis, and for negotiating with financial aid officers, will be an integral part to this one and a half-hour seminar. In addition, an explanation of the New York State TAP program and the special situation of divorced and separated parents will be fully discussed.

The cherry blossom, or 'sakura' in Japanese, is one of the most popular symbols of Japan and one of Japan's natural flowers. In 1912, Japan gave the United States thousands of cherry trees to celebrate the friendship shared by our two countries. More than 2,000 of those trees arrived in New York City where there were planted in Central Park and Riverside Park. Today, cherry trees continue to be planted in parks across the country and are a living symbol of our nation's friendship.

To mark this centennial, a formal ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 14 at 11:00am at Sakura Park on West 122nd Street and Riverside Drive. It will be followed by a festival concert at noon at the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial.
