The 2009 Pumpkin Festival is packed with children's activities, from a scarecrow competition at Bethesda Fountain, to a Haunted House at Bethesda Arcade, to a chance to pick a free pumpkin at the Patch at Cherry Hill. The Naumberg Bandshell (mid-park from 66th to 72nd Streets) hosts family-friendly performances and—back by popular demand—families can view the 20-foot tall Jack o'Lantern Tower (lighting ceremony at 5:30pm).
We will have participatory programming including:
* Spooktacular Haunted House
* Citywide Scarecrow Design Competition—register online.
* Pumpkin Patch—kids take home a free pumpkin!
* Pumpkin carving & decorating stations
* Hay rides
* Walkabout characters
* Face painting
* Greenmarket vendors
* Live entertainment
