The 52nd Street Project (The Project) is dedicated to the creation and production of new plays for, and often by, kids between the ages of nine and eighteen that reside in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood in New York City. The Project does this through a series of unique mentoring programs that match kids with professional theater artists.

The first production of every new year is our Two-on-Two’s, wherein an adult writer crafts a play for a pair of Project kids and another adult directs. Come see six such short whimsical musicals at the end of this month. This time is going to be wild--literally.

The Kids: Hashem Ahmed, Michael Banister, Gabriella DeJesus, Devin Gonzales, Jasmine Hernandez, Wendell Joseph, Katie Liu, Lauren Robinson, Chamel Rodney, Edison Sibri, Mari Ulloa, and Elizabeth Vazquez.

The Adults: Dustin Chinn, Larkin Clark, Molly Coogan, Rachel Dart, Katie Flahive, Liz Flahive, Jacob Grigolia-Rosenbaum, Michael Mitnick, Christopher Oscar Peña, Lee Rosen, Melisa Tien, and Michael Walkup. Original music by Eric March.

1/16/12 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service (Nationwide)

What is the MLK Day of Service?

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'"

Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities.

The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the President's national call to service initiative. It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems.
