The annual Swedish Midsummer Festival will once again take place in Battery Park City on the southern tip of Manhattan on June 25.
At this special celebration, adults and children of all ages will help decorate the midsummer pole, make flower wreaths, play traditional games and dance to authentic fiddle music. Food stands will offer traditional delicacies from New York's finest Swedish restaurants and food purveyors. Paul Dahlin and fiddlers from the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis, Barnklubben Elsa Rix, the Sound of Sweden choir, as well as the Swedish Folkdancers of New York will provide traditional music and folk dance.
The Swedish Midsummer Festival is presented by Battery Park City Parks Conservancy and co-sponsored by the Consulate General of Sweden in New York and other distinguished contributors, including Ambassador and Mrs. Lyndon L. Olson Jr., Investor AB, Scandinavian Airlines, SEB, Skanska USA, Swedbank, Swedish Match, Volvo Group North America, Electrolux Group, Handelsbanken and The Heimbold Foundation.
