The Central Park Conservancy, Amateur Astronomers Association, and Urban Park Rangers invite you to an evening of stargazing among the city lights. No, these are not the stars of tabloid fame! This winter evening's highlights will include the Andromeda Galaxy; the Pleiades, Hyades, and Alpha Persei star clusters; a number of planets including Uranus, Neptune, and Jupiter; Jupiter’s belts and four brightest moons first seen by Galileo; and perhaps even the Orion Nebula rising in the east. Enjoy a breathtaking view of the night's sky from the Park’s highest vantage point, and learn about the stellar formations and the other celestial bodies above us. Bring your own binoculars if you have them; telescope will be provided.
In the case of inclement weather, including a heavy cloud cover, this program will be canceled. For more information, call (212) 772-0210.
