Registration for the Summer Learn to Swim programs will take place online from Saturday, June 18 through Friday, July 1.
To ensure that everyone has an equal chance to participate, Summer Learn to Swim registration will be conducted by a lottery system. Please visit the Summer Learn to Swim registration page to find out more about the lottery system.
Outdoor (Summer)
Adapted Aquatics (Special Needs - Various Ages)
This free program offers swim instruction for mentally and physically challenged persons. The program is open to those with physical and developmental disabilities.
Summer Learn to Swim (Kids, Ages 1½-17)
Summer Learn to Swim is a free instructional program that runs at New York City’s public outdoor pools. The program teaches tots (ages 1½-5) and children (ages 6-17) basic water safety and swimming skills.
Session I: 7/5 – 7/21
Session II: 7/22 – 8/9
Session III: 8/10 – 8/26
Swim Team (Kids & Teens, Ages 6-18)
The free Swim Team program trains swimmers and organizes teams for the annual 5 Borough Championship swimming competition. Youth who can swim 25 meters in reasonably good form will be able to participate.
Lap Swimming (Adults, Ages 18+)
Online registration for Adult Lap Swim will take place from Saturday, June 18 through Friday, June 24. Poolside registration will continue all summer.
The annual outdoor adult lap swim program will give adults the chance to take to the water for health and fitness without interruption from other swimmers. Participants who swim 25 miles or more over the summer will receive a free t-shirt, and prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female distance swimmers at each pool program. An awards party will be held at the end of August to celebrate distance champions and the health and fitness accomplishments of citywide lap swimmers.
Senior Splash (Seniors, Ages 55+)
This free program offers water exercise classes, swim instruction, water ballet, and special activities for senior citizens. It helps alleviate pain, improve circulation, and promote healing and muscle development for those suffering from physical ailments resulting from injury, disease, or aging. The program is open to everyone over the age of 55.
Indoor (Fall/Winter/Spring)
Learn to Swim Vacation Camp (Kids, Ages 6-14)
While school is out, Parks offers free Learn to Swim classes for children as part of a weeklong vacation camp. Visit the Vacation Camp page to find a site near you.

The free Saturday Learn to Swim program offers classes for toddlers ages 3-5, children aged 6-14, and adults of all ages. You can review our currentSaturday and Parks Afterschool Learn to Swim programs.
Parks Afterschool Learn to Swim Lessons (Kids, Ages 6-14)
These free swimming lessons for children, offered at pools across the City, are held on weekdays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can review our currentSaturday and Parks Afterschool Learn to Swim programs.
Swim Team (Kids & Teens, Ages 6-18)
The free Swim Team program trains swimmers and organizes teams for the annual Citywide Borough Cup Championship swimming competition. Youth who can swim 50 yards in reasonably good form will be able to participate.
