Potri Ranka Manis narrates stories around traditional dance and music featuring kulintang (native gong) and other traditional instruments. She tells stories in English and Tagalog, accompanied by dancer Kinding Sindaw.

Potri Ranka Manis is the daughter of a sultan from the southern Philippines. She performs the classical and tribal dances of Mindanao and other Filipino dances solo and with Kinding Sindaw, the dance company she founded and directs. She has performed throughout the Philippines, the Middle East, Hong Kong and the U.S. and is also an award-winning poet and playwright. Locally, she has performed at NYU, Columbia and Lincoln Center's Asian/Pacific American Heritage Festival, at the Philippine Embassy, the Mayor's Office at City Hall and at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. Ms. Manis is available for teaching, lecture/demonstrations and performances through Lotus Music & Dance.

Kinding Sindaw is a dance theater ensemble resident of La Mama Experimental Theater since year 2000. The dances of Kinding Sindaw originate from the royal court dances of the Maranao Sultanate—a repertory of the sacred, classic, and secular combining grace and vigor, dances that directly reflect their rich natural environment. Dancers imitate the graceful movements of birds, fish, butterflies, rivers, streams, and ocean trekking boats, celebrate fertility in vigorous choreography, sway delicately using colorful fans and scarves, and dramatically inspire through the martial art of silat.
