Enjoy City Parks Foundation's spectacular, first-ever commission in honor of SummerStage's newest program, SummerStage Kids presented by Disney. This family affair celebrates international culture and will awaken the kid in all of us through engaging performances, puppetry, music, workshops, and magical mayhem!
After submitting a song for a compilation album of family music, celebrated rockers The Verve Pipe found that the creative sessions yielded far more than just one track. The Family Album was born and consists of family friendly songs celebrating everything from the joys of cereal to bedtime.
Known for their stunning circus performances, The Zany Umbrella Circus will unite with European circus arts master, Oko Sokolo to premiere “Mirette’s Circus,” an original commissioned work for SummerStage Kids. Inspired by the award-winning children’s book, “Mirette on the Highwire” by Emily McCully; witness a young girl find her calling through a friendship with an unlikely tight-wire superstar.
Oran Etkin has been described as a “great clarinetist, excellent improviser” by NY Times critic Ben Ratliff. His musical travels around the world inspired him to create Timbalooloo music classes & concerts for kids--a fun new approach praised by parents.
Led by Louis Mofsie, Thunderbird American Indian Dancers have enchanted audiences and helped perpetuate American Indian culture. Specializing in the songs and dances of the tribes of the Northwest Coast, Woodlands, Plains and Southwest, their repertoire includes the “Fancy Dance” and “Hoop Dance,” as well as a variety of other regional dances.
The Brooklyn Steppers Marching Band is committed to offering once-in-a-lifetime performance opportunities to youth in Brooklyn. Since 1989, The Brooklyn Steppers have welcomed young people of Brooklyn from ages 8-18 and instilled in them the discipline, teamwork, and precision that can only be gained from being part of a large group united in a singular cause.
