The Quidditch World Cup 2010 is a real-life, two-day Quidditch tournament in New York City that is free and open to the public.
Real-life Quidditch was adapted from JK Rowling's books by Middlebury College student Xander Manshel '09 in the fall of 2005. Since then, the game has expanded to hundreds of schools worldwide and led to the creation of the International Quidditch Association, a non-profit company dedicated to promoting and developing the game and using it to inspire young people to lead more physically active and socially engaged lives.
Participants include 46 official Quidditch teams from around the world, with a total of 757 athletes. The teams are from 42 colleges and universities, 3 High Schools, and 1 local community team, all from the USA and Canada.
For a full list of teams, consult the TEAMS tab on the World Cup Page. The rulebook is available for download on the website.
