Auditorium 1:30pm
Learn and enjoy Korean dance with Soh Young and Friends. Celebrate Lunar New Year with traditional Korean music, dance and colorful costumes. Traditional Korean dance originated in ancient shamanistic rituals thousands of years ago. Although different from Western dance, there are some similarities such as repetition of movements. The dancer’s legs and feet are often entirely concealed by the billowing colorful traditional Korean dresses called hanboks. The symbolism of each dance will be briefly explained.
Auditorium 3:00pm
The Orient Wind Ensemble led by percussionist and keyboardist Yin Qiang. This talented group of musicians has performed internationally and in venerable New York City landmarks like Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. They will perform traditional Chinese music including: Radiant with Joy, Spring of Tian-Shan, Hundreds of Birds Adoring the Phoenix Horse Race, Stepping Higher and more.
