French Restaurant Week

This year, the MPB Agency and Forgeois Group have decided to celebrate this July 14th anniversary jointly by launching the Bastille Week. The goal is to get people together and boost business for participating partners, by proposing street fair events, petanque tournaments, cultural events, balls and for the first time the French Restaurant Week.

Aiming to promote French cuisine in New York City by offering a price fixe menu and/or a Brunch/Special at $17.89 at all participating French restaurants in NYC.

Georges Forgeois and Bernard Decanali, launched nine years ago a petanque tournament of over 80 teams, on Smith Street, in Brooklyn. This event, building on its success, has been hosting over 15,000 visitors per year. In 2009, Forgeois organized Bastille Day in Tribeca.

Until 9/29/10 Celebrate Mexico Now Festival

This month, mexicanos aren't only celebrating the fact that a girl from Guadalajara was just named Miss Universe. September 16 marks the bicentennial of Mexico’s independence as well as the beginning of New York's seventh-annual Celebrate Mexico Now festival. From September 16 until the end of the month, Celebrate Mexico Now brings a bit of la tierra azteca to the five boroughs by presenting New Yorkers with some of the finest examples of art, culture and music from south of the border. Here are some events worth breaking out the salt and lime for.

September 16–29

New York Authentic Mexican Restaurant Week
There are way too many Mexican restaurants in New York to sample in one lifetime, so set aside this week to taste prix-fixe menus at 24 of the City's best, including Mercadito, Toloache and Hecho en Dumbo. See the complete list of participating restaurants on the Celebrate Mexico Now site. For more info on menus (and tequila pairings), contact your restaurant of choice directly.

September 24
Ely Guerra at (Le) Poisson Rouge
She's collaborated with 30 Seconds to Mars and La Ley, been on the cover of Time with Julieta Venegas and has become an alt-rock icon in Latin America. On Friday, September 24, Ely Guerra returns to New York, performing at (Le) Poisson Rouge. She'll be playing songs from her latest album Hombre Invisible, which was launched under her label Homey Company. Is there anything she can't do?

For more information on the Celebrate Mexico Now festival, visit Remezcla.com.

About the NYC Restaurant Week Truck
New York has always been the world’s leader in mobile cuisine—which is only natural, considering how fast everything moves here. In recent years, the City’s grab-and-go offerings have blossomed far beyond the expected pretzels, hot dogs, ice cream, falafel and “street meat,” yielding a startling selection of four-wheeled pizzerias, French cafés, bakeries and more. Now, in honor of NYC Restaurant Week, the City has commissioned the NYC Restaurant Week Truck.

This heavy-duty vehicle comes fully loaded with power steering, automatic transmission and an extensive menu of soups from 24 of the tastiest Winter Restaurant Week participants. For a limited time, mouthwatering (and hand-warming) delicacies from the likes of ‘21’ Club, Delmonico's Steakhouse and Tribeca Grill will be available on New York City sidewalks. The soups cost just $6 and come complete with bread from Tom Cat Bakery. Coke will also be on hand with free sample beverages. It’s enough to rev any foodie’s engine.
