The Boomerang Theatre Company (Tim Errickson, Artistic Director; Sue Abbott, Managing Director) will present THE TEMPEST by William Shakespeare in Central Park, opening June 19th at 2pm. The production is free, and plays Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Award-winning actress Sara Thigpen will direct the production, with designs by Annie Simon.
THE TEMPEST, running June 19th–July 18th, 2010, tells the story of a storm that brings the passengers of a royal vessel crashing onto the unforgiving rocks of a desolate island paradise. Dark forces and magic lead the castaways and the island's inhabitants in a struggle for revenge, love and freedom. The cast includes Jonathan Dewberry as Prospero, Amanda Tudor as Miranda, Luis Vega as Caliban, and Jason Loughlin as Ferdinand. The company also includes Spencer Aste, Kent Burnham, David Carlyon, Bob D'Haene, Vinnie Penna, Shannon Thomason, Christian Toth, Costumes are designed by Annie Simon, and the Production Stage Manager is Laura Gomez.
THE TEMPEST will take place outdoors Saturday and Sunday afternoons in Central Park, and is free to the public. All performances start at 2pm. Audiences can enter the park at 69th Street and Central Park west, and continue along the bridal path to the performance area. Feel free to bring a blanket, picnic or folding chair. No tickets are required.
