To celebrate the city’s architecture and design, the 9th Annual openhousenewyork Weekend will once again unlock the city, allowing New Yorkers and tourists alike free access hundreds of sites talks, tours, performances and family activities in neighborhoods throughout the five boroughs. From private residences and historic landmarks, to rooftop farms and sustainable skyscrapers, OHNY gives you rare access into the extraordinary architecture that defines New York City, while introducing you to the people who make the city a vibrant and sustainable place to live, work, and play.
Reservation opens October 5th
New for the 2011 OHNY Weekend, OHNY has taken a new step to make it easier for OHNY-goers to enjoy the select tours, lectures and other special programs that require advance registration. The OHNY website will be the one-stop-shop for reservations for a majority of the sites and programs that require them (unless otherwise indicated), rather than contacting each site individually as in the past.
The new pilot system will make it easier for participants to take advantage of select programming throughout the weekend, while lessening the administrative burden on those organizations that are gracious enough to open their doors for the public. A $5 processing fee will be applied to each individual reservation, which will help cover expenses associated with the new website. These funds will also make possible improvements and later expansions to the OHNY website, debuting just in time for the 2011 OHNY Weekend. (For those sites and programs that are not participating in the OHNY’s pilot program, the reservation fee is not applied.)
